Slovakia has a new skiing reinforcement! We acquired a talented star from the USA with Slovak roots

From the 2026/27 season, Slovakia will be represented by 19-year-old skier Emma Guggenheimerová, who until now competed in the USA jersey. The Slovak Skiing Association (ZSL) has confirmed that it has acquired a talented American athlete with Slovak roots. Her transfer has already been approved by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS).

Until now, Guggenheimer has represented the United States of America. He comes from Bedford, New York, and has been skiing since he was two years old. She completed her first curves at the Hunter Mountain resort, where her passion for skiing was gradually born. During her career, she went through both the American and European training systems. At the high school level, she represented Green Mountain Valley School, one of the most prestigious ski schools in the USA.

Subsequently, she completed a postgraduate program at the French academy Apex2100, which prepares young athletes for the top international level. Her biggest success so far is being ranked among the top 300 slalom skiers in the world according to the FIS points ranking before the upcoming season.

Guggenheimerová will represent Slovakia in slalom and giant slalom. “I am very happy to be able to join the Slovak national team. Both sides of my family come from Slovakia and my mother was born here, so it is something special for me. My main goal is to compete in important international events, such as the World Junior Championships. I ride slalom and giant slalom, with slalom being my favorite discipline.” stated Guggenheimerová in the ZSL press release.

Her transfer was the result of long-term cooperation between ZSL, the athlete’s family and FIS. “The alpine disciplines section actively communicated with Emma’s family about her transfer for more than a year. Finally, together we managed to successfully complete the entire administrative process and the FIS approved our request to transfer from the USA to a Slovakian license. Emma is a talented 19-year-old skier who currently has the third best FIS points in slalom among Slovak competitors.

Already this season, he will represent us at the Nor-Am race in North America, and we believe that with his performances he will gradually win participation in other important international events. We are looking forward to her performances and successful representation of the Slovak Republic,” said Branislav Brozman from the ZSL representative and talented youth care department.
