Facebook suffered a major outage. Accounts did not work due to an error on the site
Just over a month passed, and on Sunday morning, services from the American company Meta, such as Facebook, Instagram and Messenger, experienced a problem again. Users trying to access information on the social network were told that their account was unavailable due to a problem on the site.
The unavailability mainly concerned the web version of the social network, users of mobile applications did not complain en masse.
Instagram users are reporting that the service availability issue persists.
Service malfunctions are documented by reports from users through the Downdetector site. It was not a local problem in Slovakia, but the outage had a global character.
Meta’s business
A number of business models are dependent on Meta’s products, such as Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp, especially in the field of digital marketing and e-commerce.
Nowadays, it is common for many businesses to use Facebook and Instagram for targeted advertising, community building and customer outreach. Meta enables the sale of products directly in applications.
Digital content creators use social media to build a circle of followers and generate income from promoting products or services.
Meta itself is massively dependent on advertising revenue. Its business model is mainly based on free services and advertising sales. Although it is true that the business model already includes paid services for ordinary users, they are far from representing such a source of income as advertising.
