Bratislava has a new space for independent art, dialogue and community life. The new cultural and community center will officially open on Monday at Hraničná 38 after an intensive period of test events that tested the potential of the space and brought a wave of support from the public. TASR was informed about this by Robert Pospiš from the Real Music House publishing house, which is behind the venue. The official “opening” was scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

The founders of the center, musicians and publishers Robert Pospiš and Martin Sillay, respond to the current need to build open islands of free culture with the new space, according to their own words. “We realize that we do not live in ideal times. However, this is precisely why we decided to open BOD. We want it to be a lively place for culture, art and deep, open conversations. We believe that we will find partners in our efforts, because now is the important time,” declares the musical duo. The creators of the project invite the public to participate in supporting the creation of a new space on the cultural map of Bratislava.

Presentation of a new work

He experienced an intense “pre-jumping” week even before the actual ribbon cutting. It became the refuge and godparent of two Slovak music projects, which were created in direct symbiosis with BOD. The first event in the premises of the center (May 27) was a concert presentation and discussion of the new CD Memória e Fado, signed by cellist Eugen Prochác and guitarist Martin Krajčo. The album was released under the label Real Music House. “The project represents a deep and dramaturgically integrated dive into the world of Latin American musical culture and the Portuguese fado style. The saying is characteristic of this genre – Portugal sings when it feels like crying, it carries melancholy, memories, but also a strong belief in a better tomorrow,” the publisher explains.

He adds that the cultural and community center was also the place of an exceptional musical connection last week. Slovak accordionist and composer Boris Lenko, who is releasing his new author’s album called Concord Harmonicus, performed new author’s compositions live at BOD. There were also interviews with the author about the creative process and a ceremonial baptism with the participation of special guests from the art scene.

Monday opening program

As the founders of the new cultural and community center further inform supporters of liberal arts, music enthusiasts and residents of the capital, the program itself at Monday’s opening is simple. “We will be together and we are very much looking forward to it. And of course, we will also play something. It will be a special set. Also with a special guest. The beloved and popular Miloš Valent will join us,” adds the musical duo Robert Pospiš and Martin Sillay.
