Veleva about Radev: He is already different and is a consensus politician! I wouldn’t criticize him

“I have been one of the very strong critics of Rumen Radev as president. I have criticized him for the fact that he imposes an aggressive speech towards the opponents, imposes some dividing lines in the Bulgarian society. He has been doing it for the last 7-8 years and that has always been the subject of my criticism of him. Today I saw another Radev – in his first speech from the rostrum of the National Assembly as Prime Minister, he extended his hand to the opposition. Today, Radev did not attack any of the parties.”

This is what the journalist commented to Darik Valeria Velevaknown for her positions in the public space in support of DPS leader Delyan Peevski. According to her, Radev was already showing a different image – a more consensual and dialogical politician who seeks respect for the opposition and normalization of the tone in the parliament. Veleva emphasized that the cabinet faces difficult tasks such as price control, judicial reform and the utilization of funds under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan, but noted that the first signals from the administration are more moderate and statesmanlike.

“The names of the ministers caused a lot of mixed comments. At first reading, I was surprised why Radev entrusted his trust to these people. All these names were during the presentation of the election program of Progressive Bulgaria. i.e. these names are not a surprise”, she claims. According to her, the biggest surprise is the foreign minister with an education in microbiology. “She was also the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. She graduated from Cambridge and her first husband was an Englishman who was connected to the services in Great Britain. Probably even then she was, I say in quotes, liked by the English power configuration, so to speak. And she was imposed, according to the information I have, by the British Embassy in Bulgaria.”

Is it not the Kremlin anymore?

“Party with an abandoned necessity”: The arrogance of Deputy Prime Minister Hristov caused a sharp position of “Democratic Bulgaria”

“Knowing Radev personally, I never assumed that his foreign policy would bring Bulgaria under the walls of the Kremlin. This, in my opinion, was a mantra, a myth that prevailed in the election campaign, and it is time to part with this myth and stop thinking of Rumen Radev as the pro-Kremlin person in Bulgaria. Rumen Radev will follow our external orientation, as it has always been until now and as it is after being accepted into the Euro-Atlantic structures,” Veleva also claims.

She is of the opinion that if Radev had been as president as he is today as prime minister, she would not have criticized him. “But Radev today is different. Radev today was the consensus politician who has realized that running the state requires the mind and energy of the entire nation,” claims Veleva.
