They detained a recidivist, convicted of thefts and robberies, systematically damaging cars. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. At the end of April, several reports were submitted to the Sixth RU – SDVR cars with broken locksparked in front of a commercial establishment in the residential area “Red Meadow”. The investigation carried out established that the crimes were committed between the hours of 10:00 and 12:00 by the same man. After operational-search activities have been carried out the perpetrator has been identified – a 68-year-old resident of Sofia with over 30 criminal records, convicted of theft and robbery.

Around 8:30 a.m. today, the man was seen moving between parked cars in the area. The uniformed immediately took action to detain him, in which he resisted violently and pulled out a knife, pointing it at the police officers.

To prevent the attack and control the situation it became necessary to use a taser-type electric shock device.
The man was detained with a police measure for a period of up to 24 hours. In the case, files and pre-trial proceedings have been opened under Art. 144 of the Criminal Code.
Work continues on documenting his criminal activity. A report on the materials is pending in the competent prosecutor’s office.
