Boycott politicians? Weekend debates are threatened with empty seats. Robert Fico refused to participate

Television and radio studios will welcome key representatives of the government and the opposition this weekend.

We will probably not see the politicians of the ruling Smer party in the weekend political debates.

On Saturday, he was supposed to be a guest of a radio show in CREATE Prime Minister Robert Fico, however, announced on Friday that on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the assassination, he gave up participating in the STVR talk show Saturday Dialogues in order to give Slovakia at least one weekend without politics.

The Prime Minister’s call was also joined by the Vice-Chairman of the NR SR Tibor Gašpar and the Vice-Chairman of Smer and the Minister of Agriculture Richard Takáč.

Saturday (May 16)

Slovak Television and Radio (STVR)

– Saturday’s dialogues with Prime Minister Robert Fico will not be broadcast on radio station Rádio Slovensko and television news station :24, because he refused to participate, as we reported above.

The moderator of the show, Matej Baránek, was supposed to lead a dialogue focused on domestic political topics and the government’s pro-raster measures; abroad: EU – Ukraine – Russia; autumn municipal elections.

Sunday (May 17)

TV JOJ

– POLITIKA 24 will be broadcast live on the TV station JOJ 24 from 10:00 a.m.

The guest of the session will be the Minister of Transport Jozef Ráž (nominee of Smer).

With moderator Lenka Ježová, he will discuss municipal policy, investment projects of the Ministry of Transport, but also the consolidation of public finances related to his department’s projects, bridge repairs, the current state of rail transport and other topics.

TA3

– the show In politics will be broadcast at 11:00 a.m. on TV station TA3.

They accepted an invitation to study: Igor Matovič, chairman of the Slovakia movement and Milan Uhríkchairman of the Republika movement.

Topics of discussion:

  • Pro-growth measures – will the opposition join, or does it have its own proposals?
  • Will the law be changed because of the “langoustine case”?
  • In the parliament, the proposal to shorten the term of office is a referendum. Will the opposition add votes?
  • Suspension of PPA accreditation – an ongoing problem or does the Ministry of Agriculture have clear explanations? Will the European Parliament again deal with the rule of law and drawing subsidies in May? The European Parliament is preparing a resolution – what should be the result?
  • Relations in the opposition – who would like to cooperate with whom after the elections?
  • Igor Matovič should have apologized to Ľuboš Blah for the derogatory statement, which he still has not done. Is he facing execution?
  • Milan Mazurek was denied entry to the US due to his membership in a fascist party. What chances does he have with this certificate in the fight for the bathrobe and what coalition potential does the Republic have?

They accepted an invitation to study: Tibor Gašpar, vice-chairman of the NR SR (Direction) a Michal Šimečka, chairman of Progressive Slovakia.

Topics of discussion:

  • The Purgatory case started in court.
  • The invoices for M. Šimečka’s mobile phone were paid by his mother’s association.
  • Will Merz come to Slovakia or not? The prime minister says yes, the opposition says no.
  • Pro-growth measures: what does the coalition agree on and what does it not agree on? What does the coalition want to enforce and to what extent?
  • Will the law be changed because of the “langoustine case”?
  • Russian drones fell a few kilometers beyond the border, the Prime Minister did not officially react, the opposition demands the convening of the Security Council.
  • In the parliament, the proposal to shorten the term of office is a referendum. Will the opposition add votes?

Slovak television and radio

– the show O 5 minut 12 will be broadcast live on the TV station Jednotka and the news program :24 at 11:55 a.m.

The invitation to the studio with moderator Marek Gudiak was accepted by: a member of the European Parliament Miriam Lexmann (KDH, EĽS); Member of the European Parliament Branislav Ondruš (Voice).

Topics of discussion: ⁠Foreign policy of the Slovak Republic in the light of current challenges; European funds and Slovakia; measures to increase economic growth; the state of society and political competition, current challenges.
