Bulgaria already lives in “socialism”. Publicist and writer Radoslav Bimbalov is categorical about this, commenting in his profile on the social economic reforms of the new cabinet of Rumen Radev.
“I tried to understand the logic behind Radev’s economic reform. In short – it introduces, and I quote, “social solidarity” – the administration is reduced only by the hollow, unoccupied states (that is, no living breadwinners are actually released), their salaries will not rise automatically, but remain the same, they continue not to pay insurance, and at the same time, those working in the private sector will pay more taxes (in the form of insurance) because their insurance thresholds are raised,” summarizes Bimbalov.
“Solidarity, they call. Social. Years ago, somewhere in this network, I introduced the concept of Socinism. Congratulations, we already live in it,” he is categorical.
The plans of power
The new finance minister also has plans for social security benefits for the poor and the rich. Their change is planned from August 1, 2026.
“Increase of the maximum insurance income from August 1, 2026 by 189 euros to amount to 2,300 euros. A 5% increase of the minimum insurance thresholds is proposed from August 1, 2026,” added Galab Donev.
The Ministry of Finance started the new budget procedure for this year with a request to tighten the belt. Donev announced that the leaks in the state administration will be stopped first, where a 10% reduction in personnel costs is planned. He will insist on a 10% cut in staff costs without cutting salaries in the administration.
“There are in all ministries and departments unoccupied such staff members, where they do not have secured funds for these unoccupied staff members, i.e. they have spent them, they will have to resort to cutting staff above this 10%,” he declared.
The Ministry of Finance plans to eliminate the automatic salary increase for the prime minister, ministers, elected positions, as well as in the law enforcement agencies, in higher education and in the judicial system.
