Belgium asks motorists to pay: vignette from May 2027

Bye potholes? The revenue should be used for the maintenance of Belgian roads.

From May 1, 2027, drivers in Belgium will need a digital vignette to use the country’s autobahns and regional roads. A long-awaited agreement between the three Belgian regions is about to be concluded, as several newspapers reported on Friday. The Flemish government still has to approve the project.

Motorists can choose from a day ticket, a ten-day ticket, a two-month ticket and an annual ticket. The annual price is between 90 and 125 euros, depending on the CO₂ emissions of the vehicle.

});

The vignette is mandatory for all vehicles up to 3.5 tons, regardless of whether they are registered in Belgium or abroad. The project has been discussed for years. The basic idea: Foreign vehicles should also contribute to the maintenance of Belgian roads. (had)
